Mary Magdalene Lowell had just celebrated her 89th birthday when our Lord called her home on January 12, 2017.
She was born on January 2, 1928, in Ray, ND to Edward and Anna Zundel. She was the third child in a family of ten siblings.
Mary met and married the love of her life, Robert Mitchell Lowell, in Denver, Colo., on February 3, 1951. Together they raised four wonderful children, Penny (Wayne) Goodman of Fromberg, Thomas (Christene) Lowell of Park City, Danny (Sherry) Lowell and Garry Lowell all of Laurel.
Kurt Duane Gomer died of esophageal cancer on January 2, 2017. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on January 17, 1962, to Alvin and Beverly Morrison Gomer. His grandparents were Henry and Molly Gomer, long-time residents of Laurel. He spent a lot of his growing up years in Laurel, with his grandparents and lived in Laurel for a short period of time. The family moved several times, due to his father’s railroad job and Kurt graduated from Galesburg, Illinois High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
Bryan Scott Weis, 42, of Laurel, passed away on Jan. 5, 2017.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being facilitated by Remington Letcher Chapel.
George J Kappel was born Oct 3, 1933, in Billings, Montana to Joe and Eva Kappel of Park City. George was joined by three brothers, Leroy, Marvin and Alvin. As George grew up he worked hard with his family to make a success of the family farm. As a young man he enjoyed hunting, fishing and he was well known for his homemade smoked sausage and choke cherry wine. George had an ear for music and was soon playing the accordion in a band with his dad and friend Albert Eisenman. They played for weddings and gatherings all over the valley.
Lydia Katie Ostwald, age 84, entered Heaven's gates on Dec 24, 2016. Lydia passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and in the presence of her Savior.
Lydia was born on August 28, 1932, in Billings, Mont. and was a long time resident of Laurel. Lydia was devoted to her family and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lydia was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor and will missed by all that knew and loved her.
Victor H. Frank, 89, of Mesa, Arizona formerly of Phoenix, entered into eternal life peacefully on December 21, 2016. Victor was born November 13, 1927 in Laurel, Montana. He was drafted into the Army in 1946, and was sent to Japan as a part of the occupation in 1947 where he was assigned to the MIA Program. He separated from the Army in 1962 with the rank of Captain. He married his wife Helen, in 1949, and they were married nearly 62 years when Helen passed away on January 7, 2011.

Mildred Swan passed away on December 6, 2016.
Mildred (Mickey) Swan was born in Hamburg, Iowa on June 24, 1935, to Lillie and Floyd Record, where she lived until she was 10 years old. The family then moved to Woodland, Washington.
In 1953, Mickey married David Clark. To this union was born three children. In 1971, she married Eddie Swan in Livingston, Montana. They had two children.
